Software for pharmacies
In a pharmacy the roster cannot have gaps: on-call duty is an obligation, not a preference. A rules engine guarantees minimum coverage in every slot, including night and weekend duty, and recalculates on its own when someone is missing.
Why a pharmacy roster is more demanding
Unlike other retail, coverage here is not about convenience but about compliance. That changes the rules of the game.
- On-call duty is mandatory. When it is your turn, coverage has to be there without exception, including overnight.
- Hours are extended. Many stay open straight through, which multiplies the slots to cover.
- Qualified staff must be present. It is not enough to have somebody: it has to be the right person.
- An unplanned absence is urgent. It cannot wait until tomorrow.
That is why the rules engine is configured with minimum coverage per slot and per role, and will not let you publish a month with gaps.
What gets automated beyond the roster
- Hours and night differentials. Night and weekend premiums calculate themselves, which is where most payroll errors appear.
- Records with expiry dates. Licences and permits with advance warning, so none lapses unnoticed.
- Financial order. With insurers, agreements and counter sales, knowing the real monthly result is harder than in ordinary retail.
